A Comprehensive Guide to Chainsaw Man (2025): Plot, Cast, Episodes, Ratings, and All the Information
🎬 The Concept and History of Chainsaw Man
Tatsuki Fujimoto originally wrote and illustrated Chainsaw Man as a manga.
That manga is adapted into an anime. The narrative revolves around Denji, a poor adolescent who, after a terrible betrayal, unites with Pochita, a dog-like devil, to become Chainsaw Man, a hybrid of the devil and human.
As Chainsaw Man, Denji is enlisted by the "Public Safety Devil Hunters," a government organization of devil-hunters, and made to battle devils, ominous supernatural creatures created out of human fears.

🎞️ Related / Continuation — Movie & Future
-
Instead of a second season (at least for now), the story continues via a feature film: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
-
The film:
-
Director: Tatsuya Yoshihara
-
Screenplay: Hiroshi Seko (same as anime)
-
Music: Kensuke Ushio
-
Studios / Distributor: MAPPA; Japanese distributor is Toho; worldwide release includes collaboration with Sony Pictures / Crunchyroll.
-
Release date (Japan): September 19, 2025.
-
The film adapts events from the manga’s next arc (after what the first season covered).
-
-
As of now, there is no official confirmation of Season 2 of the TV series. Instead the studio opted to continue the story via the movie.
-
According to sources, a return (if as a TV series) probably wouldn’t come before 2026 (depending on decisions by MAPPA).
✅ What the Anime Covers (Manga Adaptation Scope)
-
The 12-episode first season adapts the first 38 chapters of the manga.
-
Thus, the events of the manga beyond chapter 38 — including arcs that follow — remain (so far) unadapted in TV form and are expected to be handled by the “Reze Arc” movie (and maybe future seasons).
🔎 Other Notable Info
-
The anime combines genres: Action, Dark-Fantasy, Horror, Comedy — delivering a mix of brutal devil-hunting violence with dark humor and emotional moments.
-
The production quality (animation, character design, fight choreography) by MAPPA has been widely praised. Critics often highlight how it balances gore, horror, humor, and sadness without compromise.
📝 Why It’s Popular / What Makes It Stand Out
-
Unique premise: A protagonist who literally becomes a chainsaw-wielding devil-human hybrid — not a standard shōnen hero archetype. The mix of brutal violence + dark fantasy + human dreams (for food, love, normal life) gives the story a strange but compelling realism and pathos.
-
Strong production values: Quality animation, distinct art style, devil & character designs that stand out, and soundtrack that complements horror/action.
-
Balance of tones: From gore & horror to humor and emotional depth — the show manages to shift tones in ways that keep viewers engaged and surprised.
-
Adaptation quality: The anime faithfully adapts early manga arcs and captures the essence of the original material, drawing in both manga readers and anime-only viewers.
